To download the Eagle Project Workbook, follow the instructions here:  Make sure you are using the October 2015 Eagle Project Workbook.  *Be sure to save the PDF file to your computer as you will be typing it up and printing it out in sections.

To download the Eagle Rank Application:  Make sure you are using the April 2017 Eagle Rank Application.

STEP 1: Download a copy of the “Eagle Scout Service Project Workbook” and read the entire workbook. Refer to page 1-4 for Eagle project requirements and important information.

STEP 2:  Contact an Eagle Coach and ask if they will help you fill out your paperwork correctly.  A list of all of the Eagle Coaches in our district is below.  NOTE that you must have an Eagle Coach look over your proposal before you can get your project approved.

STEP 3: Fill out the Project Proposal completely – don’t forget to fill out the Contact Information page.  Have your Eagle Coach look at your Project Proposal and make suggestions.  Your Eagle Coach will make sure that your project meets the guidelines for an Eagle Project.

STEP 4: Once your Eagle Coach has given you the “thumbs up” on your project, print out the Project Proposal section. Sign the Candidate’s Promise on Proposal Page E then obtain signatures from your Unit Leader, Unit Committee, and the Beneficiary.  **You should have FOUR signatures on Proposal Page E.

STEP 5: Eagle Project Approvals are given on the FIRST THURSDAY of each month.  Make sure you have your Proposal signed, and bring it with you to the Lehi North Stake Center, located at 3200 N. 600 E. in Lehi.  You can come anytime between 6:30-8:00pm – no appointment necessary.

REMINDER:  You may not do anything on your project until you have obtained ALL FIVE SIGNATURES on your proposal.

The following paperwork must be submitted to your Eagle Coach before a Board of Review can be scheduled:

*      Eagle Project Workbook, October 2015 printing (Form 512-927)

*      Eagle Rank Application, April 2017 Printing (Form 512-728)

*      Ambitions and Life Purpose Statement - see Eagle Rank Requirement #6

*      Member Unit Advancement Summary - ask your Unit Advancement Chair

*      Letters of Recommendation - MUST BE SENT DIRECTLY TO YOUR COACH

Once your Coach receives all of your paperwork, he or she will fill out an Eagle Stats Form and then submit your paperwork to the District Advancement Chair.  NOTE that it typically takes 2-3 weeks to verify your paperwork, so it should be submitted by the 20th of each month in order to hold a Board of Review the following month.  You will receive an email letting you know that your paperwork has been received.  ALL PAPERWORK MUST BE VERIFIED BEFORE A BOARD CAN BE SCHEDULED so you will not receive another email until your paperwork has been verified and we are able to schedule a Board of Review for you.

An Eagle Board of Review is held BY APPOINTMENT ONLY on the 2nd Thursday of each month and typically take about 30 minutes.

Come dressed in a Boy Scout uniform or your Sunday best. You DO NOT NEED to go buy a Boy Scout uniform for your Board of Review. If you choose to wear a Scout shirt, you may wear official Boy Scout pants, dress slacks, or khakis. DO NOT WEAR DENIM, JEANS, OR SPORTS SHORTS. The merit badge sash may be worn, but is optional.

At the beginning of your Board, you and your Scout leader will stand while your leader introduces and recommends you to the board members.  After introductions, you will recite the Scout Oath and Scout Law while giving the Scout sign—right arm raised to a 90° angle (Scout Handbook, p. 7).

The Board of Review consists of three adult District Scout leaders. They will ask you questions about your Eagle project, your merit badges, the Scout Oath and Law, your goals and ambitions and about your Scouting experiences.  The purpose of the Board of Review is not to test you on what you have accomplished; rather it is to make sure you understand the ideals and values of Scouting and are ready to take on the responsibility of being an Eagle Scout for the rest of your life.

Your parents are invited to come with you to your Board of Review. They can be present while you are introduced and recite the Oath and Law, but must wait outside during your review. At the end of your Board, you and your parents will receive instructions.

After your Board, your paperwork will be sent to the Utah National Parks Council for approval and then sent to the National BSA. The final verification process takes 3-9 weeks.  Once everything has been processed and verified, you will receive your Eagle Certificate in the mail – make sure you list the address on your Eagle Rank Application that you want your certificate mailed to.

After you Board of Review, you are an Eagle Scout “candidate” until the National BSA approves your Eagle application.  The date of your Eagle Board of Review is the date you are officially an Eagle Scout, but you may not hold your Eagle Court of Honor until you receive the certificate from BSA.

ONCE YOU RECEIVE YOUR CERTIFICATE you can pick up your Eagle Presentation Kit from the Scout Shop, located at:

Utah National Parks Council Service Center

748 N. 1340 W.

Orem, Utah 84057

Main number: 801-437-6222

Scout Shop: 801-221-1008

OPEN: M-F, 8:30 to 5:30; Saturday, 9:00 to 2:00

IMPORTANT: You may not hold your Eagle Court of Honor until you receive your Eagle Certificate, which verifies you are officially an Eagle Scout.

Purchasing an Eagle Presentation Kit is optional. If you choose to buy the kit, you can purchase it at the Scout Shop.  The kit includes a patch, medal, mother’s pin, father’s pin and mentor pin. You may buy more than one mentor pin. The estimated cost of the presentation kit is $29.99. Before visiting the Scout store, ask your leader who pays for this kit as some units purchase the kit for the Eagle Scout.

Do not announce the date for your Court of Honor until you have received your Eagle Certificate and obtained your Eagle Presentation Kit. There is no “official” way to hold a Court of Honor - the ceremony is up to you and your parents, but you may talk to your leaders for suggestions and help.  YOU MUST DISPLAY YOUR CERTIFICATE AT YOUR COURT OF HONOR.

Other Suggestions for your Court of Honor include:
