Upcoming: Merit Badge Workshops Sponsored by Local Companies

Through the Trail to Eagle Sponsorship program, local companies are putting on merit badge workshops to give your Scouts more merit badge opportunities throughout the year. This summer, Pro Rafting Tours is helping Scouts earn merit badges while learning to raft and kayak down the Provo River. These day-long adventures feature a run that is easy and perfect for beginners. Both merit badges will be completed by the end of the day. Parents and leaders are also welcome to attend. The cost is $69 per participant. Only 24 guests are allowed on each launch, so act fast! All others will be added to a waiting list. Register here today!

Earn the New Religious Award: The Title of Liberty

This year, the camp religious award is focused on duty to God, duty to family, and duty to country. The requirements are structured to help the individual better understand and implement their duty to God, service to their family, and support of their community and country. Groups can adjust the requirements to meet their desired outcomes and objectives. The award will be available at all council camps with a price of $5. For those who would like to work on this award outside of a council camp, the awards may be purchased at the Orem Scout Office for $7 each or online. Purchase your award now!

Family Odyssey Allows Families to Get Trained Together

Family Odyssey is a wonderful outdoor Scouting experience for your entire family. This program allows families to attend any needed or desired training together, including Wood Badge, Akela’s Council and Timberline. Wood Badge is the ultimate leadership training for all adults, whether they hold a Scouting position or not. Akela’s Council is a similar training program for any Cub Scout leader. And, Timberline (NYLT) is where youth ages 13-17 will learn leadership principles similar to those taught at Wood Badge. The Family Odyssey program features various, age-appropriate activities for the rest of the family not in training. Spots will fill up fast, so register early here.

Family Activities for the Fourth of July

This Fourth of July, Scouts and their families can attend a number of fun and patriotic activities around Utah. One of the most exciting events to attend is the Stadium of Fire in Provo, UT which has invited all Boy Scouts to be on stage and participate in the show’s opening ceremony. Other events include placing flags on veterans’ graves, attending a hot air balloon show and watching the hanging of the Nation’s largest American flag. Learn more about these activities and others here.
